Starting in kindergarten, children do lots of writing.
For the most part, they are left on their own to figure
out how to form proper letters.
This leads to many difficulties. For example, at the outset,
children are encouraged to use capital letters because
they are thought to be easier. But this advice overlooks
the fact that 99% of the letters that appear on any page
of text are lower case. The end result is a mismatch between
the letters children are taught to write and the ones they
are learning to read.
The solution is provided in the Letters to Write program
in the Phonics Plus Five™ system which provides an
integrated system for teaching children the skill of letter
creation that directly relates to reading.
